Thank you SO much on behalf of all us that work wildfire prevention and information throughout the Southwest.

What a GREAT job!

You're welcome, and glad to be of service. Mr. Christianson is referring to the article published in the March 2009 enchantment on how to protect your property from wildfire.

Farmers’ Market Left Out

First, my compliments on your excellent publication. I read and learn something from enchantment every month. In the March issue, I enjoyed your article on NM Farmers’ Markets. The Pecos Farmers’ Market was not included in the list of markets, and I wanted to call it to your attention. It was started in 2008 by a visionary Pecos resident and by October had become hugely successful. It will open again on May 3, 2009, and we await the opening with great anticipation. We hope that many of our New Mexico neighbors will enrich their lives with the healthy food and community spirit found at the Pecos Farmers’ Market. Again, thank you for a wonderful publication.

Carol Johnson, Glorieta

Dear Carol:

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. The Pecos Farmers’ Market is at the Beloved Pecos Gallery on 67 Cowles Highway in Pecos. The market is open Sundays, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Amateur Seeks Saturn’s Rings

I’m an amateur at the telescope and don’t keep up on your column all the time, but the March one caught my eye. I’d like to try and see Saturn’s edge-on rings. You said March 8 and I’ll try and set my telescope to watch for it. By September 4, I’d really like to see (and be prepared for) this “edge-on” look. But you didn’t say where to look in the evening sky. I’m 69, but I still like to try new things.

Barbara Lee, Edgewood

Dear Barbara:

Alan Hale, who writes the Hale to the Stars column, says Saturn will appear in the sky wherever the sun is around that time. In the east during the morning, high in the south around noon, and in the west during the afternoon. Saturn will not be detectable with a telescope because of its proximity to the sun, but it should be visible in instruments like the coronagraphs aboard the SOHO spacecraft.
