June 2009
Sunny Days
June’s topic, Sunny Days, found our active youth artists having fun outdoors despite the heat. Some artists enjoyed the water doing such activities as swimming, fishing and rafting. Others took advantage of the sun to start gardens or play with friends. Altogether, it looks like everyone started off the summer with a bang!
Have you ever gone hiking, fishing, or exploring in your own neighborhood and seeing a dragonfly or butterfly near you? For July’s topic, Wonder Wings, draw one of these insects or a cluster of them. Are they flying in the air, have they landed on flowers in the yard or did one land on your nose? What color are they? Put on your set of wings and have a fun experience.
As musical notes fill the air for August’s topic, Magic Instruments, draw yourself playing the drums, guitar, violin, piano, or any instrument you can think of. Or, design a new one. What happens when you start playing—do people get up and dance, or do magical musical notes or bubbles come out of your instrument? Whatever you do, have a rhythmic time!
Reminder: Be sure to include a name, address and age on your entry.
